SAMPLE GRANT PROPOSAL

CROSSROADS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION

BURLINGTON COUNTY:

DIVERSIONARY BATTLEGROUND - BRITISH EVACUATION PATHWAY

In 2008 I wrote a grant proposal to the New Jersey Historical Commission or f special funding for a Crossroads of the American Revolution project. . In the document accompanying the notification that the grant was not included with the relatively few proposals funded, we were advised that it was not because of the quality or worthiness of the proposal, but simply because of the limited amount of funding available that year. We intend to re-submit the proposal in the future. I have posted an edited version of the proposal for use as a sample for those needing a guideline for writing proposals. I have written several successful proposals over the years using the same basic principals of content, style and organization.

In the year 2005 I wrote a similar proposal for the Relief Fire Company of Mount Holly which was funded. This proposal was for the restoration of the historic hand-written minute books of this premier American fire company located here in Burlington County.
